The View from Here March 10

Greetings,

Well, the “storm” didn’t materialize here.  And even south, where it did track, the snow totals were not as much as originally estimated.  We dodged another bullet,  so to speak.  It did no good to worry about this one.

Yesterday was Ash Wednesday, a day when we began the 40 day Lenten journey to Resurrection Day.  Lent is a time for spiritual reflection, repentance, and renewal.  While it is often viewed as a dark time; a very serious time, it need not border on the austere or somber.

When we reflect, repent and are renewed, we experience Joy.  Lent leads us up the the Resurrection, which is when we celebrate the victory of life over death; Jesus has conquered the grave–which is foundational to what we, as Christians believe.  Right now, we reflect on our lives, our attitudes; and our relationships.  We seek to make amends for those things that we have done that have hindered our relationships with others.  We seek reconciliation with those from whom we are estranged. When we experience reconciliation in relationships, we have great cause to rejoice.
