Halloween is a Big Deal for our neighbors on Palace Avenue. Their elaborate and creative decorations have made the block between Hamline Ave. and Albert St. rightly famous in St. Paul, attracting visitors from all over. For the last few years, members of our congregation have participated, too. This year, we had about 1,400 people visit our Palace Door (see the pictures below). Pretty amazing, really. Here is some additional info from Mary Englund on the cast of characters, along with pictures from her and Barb Couture:
Kudos to davids nye and Hedlund for the amazing job setting up our “Palace Door” for the Halloween Candy Handout, as well as participants Kathy Bradford, Liz “da bear” Fiedler, Stephanie Highley (shown dressed for the occasion as Stephanie Highley), and Barb “the spook” Couture. We are still tallying the # of pieces of candy we passed out, but the turnout was fantastic! Special thanks to Lisa Reynolds who was the official and MUCH needed crossing guard on Hamline Ave for the event. Hundreds of families turn out for this neighbor Halloween Extravaganza and as one of the visiting dads put it, “You guys are just hopping on board, eh?” That’s the whole point, involvement in what is going on in our community. A great time was had by all and we really appreciate david nye spearheading this effort!
