Last week I spend 3 days up north at our cabin. We have not had our driveway plowed, so I had to snowshoe in about 200 yards or so. The snow was about 3 feet deep on the level, and I sank down a good foot, which made my first trip in a challenge. It was 7 degrees when I arrived, but I got the wood fire started in the stove, and the kerosene heater going, and after several hours it had warmed up to 50 + degrees.

In his book, Answering God, Eugene Peterson speaks of the language of prayer as “primal speech.” What he means by that is that it is something that we just do–there are no ‘right words’ to express our prayer. “We do not first learn how to do it and then proceed to do it; we do it, in the doing we find out what we are doing, and then deepen and mature in it.”
